what is sacred?

institutions house false appearances
safety nets under confident trapeze artists
only reassure the audience
the same fibers
tangle up fish on docked boats
the knotted ropes cut against fresh skin
a thousand men in front
and a thousand more behind
make sense of systematic boxes
with cut out paper labels
made from scattered oakwood trees
drawing lines of "beauty"
not knowing what's destroyed.
for your sake i will bleed
smiling all the while.
but never will i name
this mendacity sacred.

by me :P

i think soon i am going to tell some old weird stories of my life in asia... not yet... but soon. so be on the watch ;)

this hot bollywood actor made headlines this weekend as cameras followed his activities like the time paris hilton went to jail.... shiney ahuja allegedly raped his 18 year old housemaid this weekend in the middle of the day while his wife was out. Gagging her and threatening to kill her, it's amazing she was able to come to the police within just a matter of hours...and shiney arrested just a few hours after that... shiney confessed to the crime, the medical tests came back confirming rape...shiney's only really been in the bollywood scene for a couple of years, but his work in films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Life...in a Metro gained him a lot of recognition...

it's interesting to see how india's become a bit more no-nonsense about rape these days. while i was in bombay a few months ago, an american girl of indian origin studying at the tata institute was raped by 6 "friends" who drugged her, raped her and forced her to consume the i-pill. all six of the guys were arrested.

two days ago, North Korean civilians protested UN sanctions. I was lucky enough to catch a 20 second clip on the news here, but it was quite possibly the weirdest 'protest' ever. thousands upon thousands of people in uniform lines all chanting the same chant in unison, raising their fists in perfect timing. are there people in the world who actually believed those civilians protested out of free will? it seems highly, highly unlikely. I wish I could find a picture of it on google...

i'm so obsessed with this book that i'm thinking that sometime in my life i should write a book about this book. that's it. just read it. i heart "norwegian wood" by haruki murakami...and if you are the slightest bit less than "normal", you probably will too. i just can't decide who i'm more like... midori or naoko... maybe a blend...

One of my favourite bloggers posted a link to these amazing pictures of Children in Pakistan and I couldn't help but post it on my blog as well... simply beautiful...

a friend sent me this article... if she wasn't 2 years older than me and single, i would've taken it as a hint...ah.... good thing i am not the settling kind... and good thing i don't mind being single... hey, jane austen never got married... and look what a mark on history she made :).

Respect.

I caught a firefly or two
So let me tell you straight
Catching only tears the wings
or snuffs the life right out.
At least it flakes
across your hand
those pin-point flares
which you can watch
go blinking dim
to black.
So I'll respect
God's sparks in you
and let you flit about.
and you remember too
when you catch control
of me too tight
my creative sparks go blank.
But don't you really think
it's better fun
to watch the fire fly
In dark to see
those tiny lamps give
light and joy
to all who stand
apart and let them
Trace star circles
in the otherwise black night?
